The Halfway Showcase!
March 05, 2021
Today’s session with The Coders Guild was lead by the cohort! We each presented on an area of interest that we had covered so far in the course.
Public speaking is one of those things for me where the longer I go without doing it, the worse the thought of it becomes, and it has been quite a while! Despite the nerves I was happy with the presentation and got some lovely feedback from my cohort.
It was so great to hear my fellow cohort members speak on their interests. The upside of remote is connecting with others you wouldn’t otherwise meet. The downside is it’s harder to get to know everyone, so it was lovely to see everyone speaking with enthusiasm, and I picked up new knowledge and concepts across the evening.
For mine, I chose to look at effective communication as a tester providing feedback to the devs in your team. Beyond what we covered in our session I explored the resources on the Ministry of Testing, and used two in particular:
Continuous Quality: Moving Beyond Bug Reports - Neil Studd

A Software Tester’s Guide To Influence - Kwesi Peterson
- focussing on the idea of ‘Radical Candour’ from Kim Scott
